Physical Education

SCS has a strong physical education program.  The school has had physical education everyday for a number of years already.  We recognize the importance of developing and maintaining physical fitness in students.   A well rounded education requires that a strong physical education component.

The SCS PE program offers:

 

·30 minutes of daily physical activity

·Formative games (tag games, skipping games)

·Innovative games (parachute activities, cooperative games)

·Games (soccer, hockey, basketball, volleyball, bat and ball games, net ball, pickle ball, lacrosse)

·Individual and dual activities (stretching, Bal-A-Vis-X, track and field events, aerobics)

·Dance (social, aerobic, cultural, interpretive)

·Gymnastics (apparatus, educational themes, acrobatic, rhythmic)

·Alternative environmental activities (fitness experiences, track and field, bulldog bowl)

 

Goals for the PE program:

Children will be actively involved and engaged during PE.

Children will find joy in being active.

Children will be exposed to a wide variety of physical activities.

Children will want to carry out an active lifestyle beyond their scheduled PE time.
